I consulted with the OB specialist today and had another ultrasound (but not a pelvic one WOOHOO!!).
Everything looked normal and confirmed what the doc originally thought. These days people play the CYA game (thats Cover Your Ass, Mom) so the radiologist will see something white and go “well it could be something, not sure but it may be nothing” because God forbid if something was wrong nobody wants to get sued. I get it, and I don’t really have a problem with the CYA, it just tends to be more of a hassle for me.
Everything else looked great. They spent about 45 mins examining the brain, kidneys, heart, and spine. “Bones” is actually about a week ahead in size and weight, sitting at an impressive 1 lb. 13 oz. All this means he’s packed on 7 oz. in the last 2 weeks! Looks like he takes after his mom and can do some serious scarfing.
This fact does start to confirm my nightmares, however, that I give birth to either a watermelon or a 6 month old baby. I have several dreams rotating nightly and all are as equally disturbing.
One point worth mentioning during today’s visit, is that I had a bit of an experience with the bizarro world — as in The Seinfeld episode, where Jerry, George and Kramer meet Kevin, Gene, and Feldman.
I can only describe it in this sense. The Specialist that I had today was highly intelligent and somewhat similar to my normal Doc, but way way way odd, and so were his staff. The rooms were similar to my normal Dr.’s but also slightly odd, and there was a weird odor. I literally had a moment where I thought I was in bizarro land.
On the horizon
P.S. — The above photos is the face picture that was least scary. Yea, we’re definitely not doing the 4D ultrasound.

We know the “well it could be something, not sure but it may be nothing” all too well. But our instincts told us other wise. The CYA game definitely is a hassle.
I’m glad to see everything looks normal! Keep us updated!
P.S. Never listen to a radiologist! They know nothing.

from the movie Juno…
Ultrasound Technician: I’m an ultrasound technician.
Bren: Oh yeah? Well I’m a nail technician and I think we both ought to just stick to what we know.
